I teamed up with WZPL, Indy’s Mix, and the Indiana Turkey Farmer’s to give you a delicious summertime recipe with turkey. Most people get bored with basic turkey burger recipes or don’t enjoy them because they tend to be dry.
I’ve added cool and creamy avocado to the patty to give a new texture, moisture, and a pineapple slice for flavor.
1 lb Ground Turkey
1 Avocado, scooped from shell and cut into a small dice
1 Small Red Onion, chopped
2 Tbsp Fresh Cilantro, minced
2 Cloves Fresh Garlic, minced
1 Tbsp Kosher Salt
1/2 Tsp Black Pepper
1 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 Slices of Fresh Pineapple
1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
1 Tbsp Brown Sugar
1/2 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Begin with the pineapple. Combine soy sauce, brown sugar, and oil in a small bowl. Place pineapple in a bowl and toss lightly until coated. Let pineapple marinate in sauce until ready to grill.
Prepare grill to cook at medium heat.
In a large bowl, mix burger ingredients just until combined. Be sure not to over mix. Form 4 burger patties.
Oil grill grates. Place patties on grill and cook until done. Approx 7 minutes on each side. Remove patties and allow to rest.
While patties are resting oil grill grates again and place marinated pineapple on grill. Grill on both sides just until grill marks form.
To assemble burger, place bottom bun, then lettuce (I like spring mix). Place burger patty on top and then top with pineapple. Add top bun and enjoy!
This burger goes great with mayo or a thin layer of pineapple preserves on the bun.
