Summer is not over, ya’ll! I know that pumpkin spice is in full effect, but I’m just not ready!
I teamed up with the fabulous fashion blogger, Sierra, of Eclectic Kurves to host the most epic summer dinner party that you ever did see! This perfect pairing gives you all you need to know for what to cook and what to wear to any summer dinner party! We even include the perfect gift idea for what to bring if you’re attending a summer dinner party.
Let’s talk about food. I LOVE having dinner parties, and I think all of you do too! I feel like summer is the time to host dinner parties and do the cooking on your own. Business is usually slow for me in the summer because people want to grill and shopping is a lot more fun with the amazing produce we get to enjoy during summer months.
It’s incredibly important to me to be present with my guests and enjoy their company. I have found the best way to do that is to keep my menu on the simpler side. Now don’t worry. Simple doesn’t mean tasteless. It simply means to prepare items that take minimal time, but pack in flavor! My Roasted Shrimp with Creamed Corn is perfect for just this. Corn is the absolute BEST during Indiana Summers. You can take the corn right off the cob and whip up this rich and creamy dish.
Not only are summer months perfect for produce, but they are also perfect for refreshing dishes. This Roasted Asparagus Caprese Salad lends a fun twist on a summer vegetable classic. Not only do you get to take advantage of beautiful summer tomatoes (maybe even from your own garden), but you also get to add another bright and vibrant vegetable…asparagus!
It’s also totally okay to take a little help from the grocery store. A charcuterie board is the gourmet version of a meat and cheese board and pretty much requires NO COOKING! It is always a crowd pleaser because it offers to much variety. While the word “charcuterie” can be intimidating, I’ve got all the tips you’ll need to Build a Charcuterie Board.
The summer time also means light and refreshing drinks like wine. I love the wine at Chateau de Pique. They are so light, refreshing, and pair so well with so many different foods. They actually pair really well with WINE CAKE! My wine cake mix, Treats by Tanorria, is such an excellent finisher for any summer dinner party. Best part… you get the finish the bottle of wine you bought to make the cake by drinking it! A bag of wine cake mix and a bottle of wine is also the perfect gift for your dinner party host. It’s really the perfect gift combo for any wine lover in your life.
While food is incredibly important for a dinner party, so is what you’re wearing. I don’t know about you, but I want to be comfortable! Sierra has the guide to the perfect outfit to wear when hosting or attending a dinner party. Not only is she keeping you fabulous and fashionable, but she’s keeping you cool and comfortable in the summer heat, too! Make sure you peruse her website for more fashion tips and tell her I sent ya!
Labor Day is around the corner, and it was 91 degrees today. Summer is not dead, and I’m standing by that. There is still plenty of time to host the most epic summer dinner party ever!
