Although Pi Day is a day to celebrate the mathematic ration 3.14…, I just heard Pie and ran with it!
Pressed for time I decided to come up with this quick and easy hand pie recipe. This reminds me of my grandmother. She made the BEST fried apple pies! One day I’ll indulge you all in the deliciousness that is a warm, gooey, crispy, deep fried apple pie! Until then…enjoy this quick and sweet treat.
Nutella Hand Pies
1 Package Puffed Pastry Sheets
1 Small Jar Nutella Chocolate Spread
2 Bananas, sliced
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Cut puffed pastry sheet into 6 equal pieces. Place 3 puffed pastry pieces on a cookie sheet. Place bananas in center of the pastry pieces leaving approx. 1 inch on each side. Spoon a dollop of Nutella on top of the banana. Cover each pastry piece with the other 3 pastry pieces.
Using a fork, press pastry pieces together. Be careful not to pierce the sheets. Beat an egg with 1 Tbs of water. Brush egg wash on top of each hand pie. Bake for 20 minutes.
Remove hand pies from oven and drizzle with extra Nutella.
