Bourbon Maple Chicken Wings

Chicken wings are my go-to late-night meal. There’s a place really close to me that’s open until 1 am! I prefer local chicken wing places because they get creative with flavors and the wings tend to be meatier.

I was super excited when I discovered National Chicken Wing Month! Although it’s in the month of July, I had to pair some of my favorite fall flavors with it–Maple & Bourbon!

Alyssa Raymond of WTHR joined me as we made this recipe to celebrate the month.

Bourbon Maple Chicken Wings

Bourbon Maple Chicken Wings

Ingredients

Bourbon Maple Chicken Wings
  • 2 pounds of chicken wings
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 3/4 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Tabasco (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
  2. Toss wings with oil, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Lay wings on a baking sheet, being sure they aren’t touching. Bake wings for 20 minutes. Flip wings over and bake for another 20 minutes.
  3. While wings are baking, combine all other ingredients in a small pot. Whisk ingredients until fully combined, then bring to a light boil. Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer on low until wings are done.
  4. Toss baked wings in the warm sauce. Place wings back on a baking sheet and cook for another 5 minutes.
  5. Remove wings from oven and enjoy!
