Homemade Brownies

I have a confession to make. Guys, I don’t really like chocolate. I’m sorry! I just don’t. I used to like it, but now it’s not my jam. I can’t even stand dark chocolate and I really only like milk chocolate if it’s masked in so much peanut butter that I forgot chocolate was there. I know…who am I?

If I’m being completely honest, chocolate is only good to me when it’s that time of the month. Just keeping it real here! During that one week, though, I go hard on some chocolate! Hershey with almonds is my favorite, and I want all things oooey gooey. That’s why these brownies are perfect.

I can whip these up during that time; top it with ice cream and melted peanut butter and be one happy girl!

I love this recipe because they’re so easy to make. Throw out your boxed brownie mix and stick with these! Most of the ingredients are on the kitchen staple list, so you have the option to whip them up just about any time you want!

Homemade Brownies

I love this recipe because they’re so easy to make. Throw out your boxed brownie mix and stick with these! Most of the ingredients are on the kitchen staple list, so you have the option to whip them up just about any time you want!

Ingredients

Homemade Brownies
  • 1/2 cup salted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup melted milk chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup pecans, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 8x8 metal pan with parchment paper.
  2. Pour melted butter into a large mixing bowl. Whisk in sugar by hand until smooth, 30 seconds. Add eggs one at a time, making sure the yolks are mixed in thoroughly. Add vanilla extract then whisk for 1 minute. Whisk in melted chocolate until combined and smooth. Using a rubber spatula or wooden spoon, stir in flour, cocoa powder, and salt until just combined. Add chocolate chips and pecans and stir until incorporated.
  3. Pour batter into prepared pan. Place in oven and bake for 25-30 minutes. Allow brownies to cool for 20-30 minutes before cutting. Trust me on this. It will be hard but worth it!
  4. Enjoy!
